In his complaint to the police, mini-truck driver Kuldeep Singh said, “Around 9 pm on Monday, a speeding car hit his vehicle. The cop, who was driving the car, came out and started threatening me. He was drunk. When passersby intervened, the cop has flashed gun and opened fire in air. The cop also threatened to shoot us and snatched motorcycle of a commuter, Sukhwinder Singh, and fled with it.”

Complainant Singh alleged that they informed the police, who took an hour to reach the spot. He alleged that the police that were proactive in arresting MLA brothers Balwinder Singh Bains and Simarjit Singh Bains and their supporters, but turned sluggish in taking action against their own colleague.

Following this, the passersby staged a protest at the spot and shouted slogans against the police.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Dugri SHO Gurdev Singh said, “I have joined duty on Monday after a leave. I will be able to comment on the issue after investigating the matter.”
