Five teams conduct surprise checks in schools, health centres

A doctor and an auxiliary midwife (ANM) were found absent from duty during a surprise check conducted by the district administration. Five teams, constituted by the district administration, inspected 16 government schools, several health centers and a veterinary hospital in different villages across Patiala district.

A doctor and an auxiliary midwife (ANM) were found absent from duty during a surprise raid conducted by the district administration. Five teams, constituted by the district administration, inspected 16 government schools, several health centers and a veterinary hospital in different villages across the district.

Mini Singla, a doctor at a health center in village Langh, and ANM Arvinder Kaur have been served notices for dereliction of duty.

Additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Anandita Mitra said the raids were conducted after the administration received several complaints regarding indiscipline in these institutions.

"Such inspections would be carried out in the future as well to ensure proper attendance and functioning in the government intuitions," said Mitra.

The teams also visited several schools in the district and checked the attendance registers of teachers and students.

Mitra has asked the staff of primary schools and heath centers to ensure proper functioning in their institutions.

In Barnala, deputy commissioner (DC) Kavita Singh was part of the team that inspected a government high school.

"We have also asked the district education officer to look into the reported anomalies found in the stock registers," she said.
