Two weeks after a 14-year-old schoolgirl alleged that she had been gangraped by three persons, the Amritsar city police have found that she had levelled false charges to shield her boyfriend. The latter, identified as Manandeep (20), has been arrested and booked on the charges of rape and kidnapping.

On the basis of the girl's complaint, three persons, including Goldy, a resident of Bhai Manjh Singh Nagar here, had been booked on October 25 under sections 376 (rape), 363, 366 (both related to kidnapping), 342 (illegal confinement) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at B division police station.

The girl had alleged that she was on her way to attend a karate practice session at Sultanwind school when the 'accused' bundled her into a van and took her to a secluded location. She claimed that the trio raped her and later dropped her outside the school, threatening her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.

He added that the minor's medical examination had confirmed sexual intercourse. According to him, the girl cooked up the gangrape story, naming Goldy and others as the accused as they were earlier wanted in a rape case, in which they were later acquitted.
