The case of suicide by a college girl last month took a new turn when the father of the accused, an alleged boyfriend of the deceased girl, said his son had been falsely implicated in the case and that they had no support from any SAD leader.

"The girl did not leave a suicide note. If she had something against my son, she must have left some clue. Everyone knows that she was under treatment for depression. Also, the parents of the girl did not level any allegation against my son. They did not mention him to the police despite their being aware of their relationship," said Amarjit Gupta, father of accused Sameer Gupta.

Jaishree, a second-year B Com student at SSD Girls College, was found dead in her hostel room on the evening of November 27. Police had registered the case against Sameer on December 6.

"We were shocked after the case was registered against Sameer. Had we enjoyed the support of a ruling party leader, my son would not have been falsely implicated in the case just on the basis of call records," said Gupta.
