Gurdaspur: Bodies of terrorists taken out of police station

The bodies of the three terrorists were taken out on Tuesday afternoon from the the double-storeyed, old building of the Dinanagar police station, where the trio had been holed up for most part of Monday’s gunbattle. The new building is located in front of it in the same compound.

Earlier, a Punjab Police bomb disposal squad conducted a controlled blast at 3.10pm.

A team of Punjab forensic experts gathered vital clues to ascertain the identity and motive of the terrorists on Tuesday morning. The forensic experts had closely inspected the bullet-riddled white Maruti car that the terrorists had hijacked to reach the police station. The experts inspected the weapons and ammunition used by the terrorists.

The markings on the weapons and belongings of the three heavily-armed terrorists had been erased, police sources said, adding that this was a bid to conceal their identities. The terrorists were in their early 20s and were found to be circumcised and had their chests shaved, police sources said.

Army choppers carried out surveillance checks in the area. Army personnel were deployed in rooftops of buildings adjoining the police station.
