In the absence of a bridge, especially the elderly, women and children face difficulty in boarding trains and vice versa.

However, considering the limited infrastructure at the railway station, the station receives only one train at a time generally; however, two trains are also received at the station in case of some operational problems.

At the same time, the railway authorities said the railway administration was aware about the inconvenience faced by the passengers in the absence of an over bridge at the Gurdaspur railway station. They also admitted that crossing the railway track was an offence under the law of the land. It means that if a person is run over by a train while crossing over railway track to board a train, his kin would not be entitled to any compensation; rather the deceased would be held guilty.

However, the railway authorities in their reply had assured that a foot bridge (over-bridge) would be erected soon at the Gurdaspur railway station, but to no avail.
