‘Pratigya’, a programme for heralding drug addiction-free society, was organised jointly by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan and Yuva Parivar Sewa Samiti on Sunday. The chief guest was Punjab health minister Brahm Mohindra.
Mohindra said the state health department has decided to provide ‘spiritual treatment’ along with medical aid to the drug addicts in the rehabilitation centres across the state.
The minister said that the government is seeking cooperation from religious and social institutions in drug de-addiction and soon a high-level meeting would be called in this regard.
Replying to a question about shortage of medicines at government hospitals, the Minister said that it was a matter of concern. “The government has decided to establish a special fund for the same, which would not be used for any other purpose,” he said.
He said that he has directed the principal secretary, health and family welfare to complete all administrative procedures in 10 days.
