“The rainy season is over and with the start of October, people are confused over what to wear - summer clothes or pre-winter ones, - as the temperature is high during the day but low during evening. They should be ready to deal with the effects of changing weather as it is that time when most people get viral infection,” said Dr Anureet Gill, the department of medicine, Fortis Hospital.

She added: “People should have proper breakfast.”

The saying that “breakfast should be heaviest, lunch should be shared and dinner should be given to enemies” works best in this season if one wants to avoid infections, added Dr Gill.

“If you go out with empty stomach, the energy level will go down and so does the immune system. A person without proper breakfast is most likely to be affected by the viral infection,” said Gill, adding that people should avoid going from air condition (AC) rooms to the open to avoid infections.

Dipti, dietary expert, Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), said, “Only healthy meal can save us from viral infections during the changing weather. Breakfast is important because it is the time when our body can consume more number of calories.”
