With samples lifted from Nestle's Tahliwal unit in Una district failing safety tests, the state food safety department has issued a public advisory against consuming Maggi of two particular batch numbers.

The government advisory has urged people to not consume Maggi noodles having batch numbers 51446640CC (date of manufacturing May 2015/H) and 51536640BA (date of manufacturing May2015/H).

However, reports of Maggi samples lifted from the markets are yet to come in. Officer on special duty (food safety) Surekha Chopra said reports of samples lifted from various districts were yet to come.

A team constituted by the state government had lifted Maggi samples and raw material from the Tahliwal unit on June 4 and sent them for testing. The report has revealed that two samples of different batch numbers had 4.4 parts per million (ppm) lead, which is more than the permissible limit of 2.2 ppm. However, the raw material passed the tests.
