In the last Lok Sabha elections, the people of Fatehgarh Sahib elected Harinder Singh Khalsa of the AAP to Parliament in the hope of better civic amenities, but nine months on, they are so disappointed that many now don't even remember his name. It took businessman Gurwinder Singh a minute to recall who the local MP was. "I haven't seen him around even once," he said, "Leave alone grants, he didn't even pay us a visit since winning. I'll give him 0 on 10."

AAP supporter and senior citizen Manjeet Singh said Khalsa was an educated and honest man but his drawback was that he neither visited his constituency nor was doing anything to develop it. "He is an MP, and he should visit his constituents more often," he said.

Khalsa promised his constituency sustainable development; and Fatehgarh Sahib is waiting for that to start. An auto-rickshaw driver working in the city for 15 years said that like every new leader, Khalsa had made tall promises but keep none.
