A video going viral on social media and the internet has Union minister and SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal publicly criticising the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for concentrating more on politics than on religious preaching.

Harsimrat speaking at a function in Mansa on July 31.

It was on July 31 that Harsimrat was in Mansa to attend sangat darshan programmes, and she made the remark at a function organised by SGPC member Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar to felicitate some students. Addressing the gathering, Harsimrat said, “With folded hands, I thank those Sikh granthis (preachers) who have trained these kids in teachings of Sikhism. I also thank SGPC member Gurpreet Jhabbar for organising this event. Even as it is the duty of SGPC members to guide people towards religion, it is sad that it is often found that SGPC members are more involved in politics and less with religious preaching.”
