The ongoing turmoil in the Kashmir valley has hit the business of poultry, goat and sheep suppliers, flour mills, vegetable traders of Punjab, who are the major dealers from Punjab to the Valley.
Not only the big businessmen, dhaba owners on the Delhi-Srinagar National Highway have also been facing crises as their customer incoming reduced immensely in the absence of thousands of trucks which used to ply daily on the route.
Rajesh Pushkarna, a pharmaceutical company owner from Pathankot said, “We cannot even make an estimate of the losses being incurred each day. Our earnings are almost none and we are getting ruined. Since the unrest, I have not received a single penny by my dealers in Srinagar, who too are apparently helpless.”
He said, “The traders are facing double losses as on one hand they are losing sales here and on the other, they are not generating revenue from the money already invested in the Valley,” adding, “the Kashmiris might get help after the situation improves but what will the government do for us?”
Sat Pal Chanana, a poultry dealer, complained, “Since the traders in Kashmir are not being allowed to open their shops and the stocks are getting spoiled, they would definitely make us share their losses.”

{{/usCountry}}Meanwhile, a dhaba owner Raju at Madhopur said that in this season of apple, peaches and plum, his dhaba remained crowded with truck drivers having food round the clock but in the present situation, he has to sit idle for hours.
