Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Ambala (Rural), Vijay Pratap on Tuesday claimed that Kashmiri boy Amir Jameel, a resident of Bijbehara town of South Kashmir, was thrashed as he had misbehaved with a woman at Shahzadpur in Ambala, but now he was cooking up stories.
Jameel had earlier claimed that he was attacked because of his “Kashmiri origin”. In the story, ‘They called us terrorists, says Kashmiri student’, published in Hindustan Times on January 18, Jameel had said that they were called terrorists and abused and thrashed too. According to Vijay Pratap, the boy had passed out from Swami Devi Dyal College of Engineering and Technology, Barwala, in 2015, but he had a reappear exam.
“He came to Shahzadpur in December last year, along with two more boys of Jammu and was staying in a rented accommodation.
They were living on the first floor. One more family, Raju and his wife along with a oneand-half-year-old daughter were living on the first floor in a separate flat,” the DCP said. He added, “On January 7, Jameel entered their flat and it is learnt that he misbehaved with the woman who was alone. Then Raju along with his younger brother Pankaj beat him up.
But the owner of the premises, Vijay Kumar Kalra, intervened. He pacified both the parties and the matter was sorted out as Jameel apologised and addressed the woman as his sister.”

{{/usCountry}}Vijay Pratap said that Jameel did not take the exam on January 8 and left for Kashmir. “But the other two boys were not beaten up at all,” he clarified.
“He probably lodged a complaint in Kashmir. DSP CID Shabbir Khan had called up from there and we made him to talk to the owner of the house, who is an eyewitness to the entire episode. The boys used to remain in the same accommodation when they were studying in the college,” the DCP added. However, Jameel had told Hindustan Times, “On January 7, I saw Raju was drunk and was staring at me when I was returning from college. Within minutes he barged into my room and started abusing and thrashing us all. When I objected he left and brought two more people.”
“I think Pathankot incident may be the immediate trigger for their actions,” he had claimed.
