Ludhiana hospital’s officiating medical supdt takes stock of staff

Dr Renu also held meetings with various heads of departments. Talking to Hindustan Times, she said, “After going through the primary data, I have observed that the hospital needs at least 20 additional staff nurses and two gynaecologists for normal operations.”

The hospital currently has 57 staff nurses, of which 12 are in the Mother Child Hospital. The latter has four gynaecologists.

Dr Renu said she would try to manage the staff in such a way that at least one gynaecologist remained present in the hospital round the clock to deal with any emergency.

On dealing with the scarcity of gynaecologists in the hospital, she said, “We plan to take MBBS doctors and provide them training, after which they would be able to conduct complicated deliveries and even Caesarean sections.”
