A man was booked on the charge of raping his sister-in-law (wife's sister) on the acomplait fo the victim. The accused has been identified as Gurpreet Singh, a resident of Bigarwal village near Sunam.
Investigation officer Satnam Singh said the victim alleged that on April 15, Gurpreet took her to market on the pretext of shopping and instead took her at a secluded place in Sunam, where he administered her some sedatives and raped her.
The police said the victim alleged that Gurpreet also threatened her of dire consequences if she dared to tell the incident to anyone. The victim, however, narrated the incident to her parents, following which they approached the police. The medical examination of the victim has corroborated her version. No arrest has been made in the case.
