In a complaint to the station house officer of Nurmahal police station, the secretary of the committee said more than 150 activists of the Dera, who had come in a bus along with a JCB machine, gathered at the construction site of the market committee office on the Nurmahal -Nakodar road on January 11, demolished a portion of the newly constructed boundary wall, filled its foundation with earth and stole bricks kept on the site.

They abused, manhandled and threatened accountant Surinder Kumar, superviser Amarjeet Singh, Mandi supervisor Kuldeep Singh, sub-divisional officer Bimal Sharma and junior engineer of the Mandi Board, he said.

The complainant told the police that Dera in-charge Narinder Singh was behind the attack.

The secretary said in his complaint that the Mandi Board owns 18 acres, 3 kanals and 2 marlas of land on which the construction of a new mandi township is going on.

SHO Vijaykanwarpal said that he had received a complaint and was investigating it.
