Taking a strict note on the violation of building bylaws, the municipal corporation (MC) recovered more than rs20 lakh composition fee from two buildings, while the work was stalled at five other buildings under- construction at Ghumar Mandi by serving notices to them.
Following the directions given by the MC commissioner, a team of MC's Zone D recovered rs 19.11 lakh as composition fee for the violation of building by laws on the premises of Old Dayanand Medical College and Hospital. The MC had found that the construction was done on non- sanctioned area of 75,000 square feet.
Earlier, HT had highlighted through its report that violation of building bylaws was found at the building under-construction adjoining Old DMC.
Besides, the MC had also recovered around rs1.5 lakh as composition fee from Lovely Sweets for violating building bylaws. A notice was served to Lovely Sweets many years ago, but they had not paid the composition fee as per the claims of an MC official.
MC's assistant town planner SS Bindra said they also inspected five buildings under-construction, including Roop Square and nearby buildings in Ghumar Mandi. Notices were served to the persons concerned for violating building bylaws. Work was also stalled at these buildings, Bindra added.

Earlier, MC Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agarwal had given directions to collect the recovery amount for violating building bylaws.
Agarwal had directed to the MC's Zone D team to do recovery of rs40 lakh per week, while the target was `30 lakh each for Zone B and C. The building branch team of Zone A was to collect recovery of rs25 lakh.
