Nabha man duped of `50 lakh on pretext of job for son in Haryana Police

The city police on Friday booked a Haryana resident for allegedly duping a Nabha man of Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of getting his son recruited as a deputy superintendent of police in the Haryana Police.

The city police on Friday booked a Haryana resident for allegedly duping a Nabha man of Rs 50 lakh on the pretext of getting his son recruited as a deputy superintendent of police in the Haryana Police. The accused has been identified as Parminder Singh of Narala village in Fatehabad, Haryana.

Complainant Rakesh Kumar told the police that the accused approached him and said that there were four openings for the post of DSP in the Haryana Police and his son could be appointed without undergoing any examination or interview if he paid Rs 2.5 crore.

The accused told Kumar that he had links in the Haryana government and proper channel would be followed for the recruitment. After negotiations, it was decided that Rs 50 lakh would be paid in advance and the pending amount after the appointment.

Kumar allegedly gave Rs 50 lakh and a sports utility vehicle (Toyota Fortuner) to Singh, but he failed to fulfil his promise. Later, the accused returned the vehicle and promised to return the money within a specific time period.

During the preliminary investigation, it has come to the fore that the accused was staying at Dera Bassi in SAS Nagar. Station house officer Kuldeep Singh Virk said police teams are conducting raids at the suspected whereabouts of the accused to nab him.
