The MC identified these violators following a survey in villages adjoining the city and put them under notice for adding to problem of cattle on city roads. The notice reads that the civic body will not only impound their cattle, but also lodge police case if their enforcement staff find their cattle on city roads.

Action against the violators can be taken under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

MC commissioner Rajesh Jogpal said as per MC’s survey, cattle released by dairy owners were major reason behind this menace on Panchkula roads.

“This can’t be tolerated any longer. A notice issued to them clearly asks them to keep their cattle inside their premises. If these cattle are caught on city roads, we will ask police department to book their owners for violating MC norms,” he said.

Jogpal claimed that all the unclaimed cattle have been sent to cattle pound to make sure that city roads are safe for the commuters. “But cattle having right claimants continue to return back due to the negligence of a handful of people, which needs to be corrected to deal with this menace,” he said.
