A day before the Akal Takht’s meeting on the action against former cabinet minister Sucha Singh Langah, parallel jathedars designated by the radical Sarbat Khalsa on Wednesday “excommunicated” the rape accused Akali leader for committing blasphemy.

Before awarding the “punishment”, the parallel “jathedars”— Dhian Singh Mand (Akal Takht), Baljit Singh Daduwal (Takht Sri Damdama Sahib) and Amrik Singh Ajnala (Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib) — held a meeting at the Takht for half an hour.

“Langah has a long history of misdeeds and anti-panthic activities. He had illicit relation with a woman using his power. As he was a baptised Sikh and member of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), his act is in violation of Sikh maryada,” read the ‘hukamnama’ (edict) they issued.

They also “excommunicated” Buta Singh, secretary of managing committee of Gurdwara Ghallughara Chhamb Kahnuwan (Gurdaspur), who was allegedly found in a compromising position with a woman on the gurdwara premises. Johar Singh, president of the committee, was summoned on October 12 in this case.

The commission is probing the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari village of Fridkot district.
