PAU raises number of seats for undergraduate courses

In view of the ongoing admission process at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) for the academic session 2014- 15, the registrar, PK Khanna on Wednesday that the number of seats for the undergraduate programmes have been enhanced from 443 in 2013-14 to 556 in 2014-15. A total of 113 seats have been increased, he said.

Khanna said last year, BSc agriculture (hons) six- year programme was being offered to the students at Ludhiana and Gurdaspur districts with 50 and 20 seats, respectively.

But this year, in order to provide education at the doorstep of rural youth of Punjab, an Institute of Agriculture had been established at Bathinda wherein BSc agriculture (hons) six-year programme was being offered to the students (after Class 10), he added.

He elaborated that the university is offering BSc agriculture (hons) six- year programme at the Institutes of Agriculture at Gurdaspur and Bathinda with 60 seats each (total 120).

Seeing the success of this programme, as many as 50 seats have been added this year, said Khanna, while informing that the programme had been a major attraction for the students from Bathinda, Fazilka, Abohar, Muktsar districts.
