The party MLAs, including Lal Singh, Parminder Singh Pinki and Gurkirat Singh Kotli, said it was only a few months ago that the Congress had been routed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Modi.

However, it is now clear that the people have rejected the PM's style of functioning and it is evident from the results of the Delhi elections. Even playing the card of inviting US President Barack Obama failed to help in the elections.

The issue is not that the Congress failed to mark its presence but the BJP, which won all the seven seats in the Lok Sabha elections, was reduced to just three seats in the assembly.

They said the people felt cheated by the BJP as even after the steep fall in the crude prices in the international market, the Modi government refused to pass on the benefit to the people and rather levied additional taxes on petroleum products. The government failed to check the rise in prices as well.

The Congress is in the process of introspection and will soon stage a comeback, said the Congress MLAs.
