The information was submitted to the Punjab and Haryana high court on Wednesday by the state counsel, following which the court headed by justice RP Nagrath directed the CIA staff to conclude the probe and submit the report.

The directions came during the resumed hearing of a petition filed by deceased’s father Baldev Raj Chawla seeking probe from the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The FIR in the case was registered more than a year after the incident at the city-2 police station, Abohar, on September 18, 2013 for causing death by negligence. The petitioner had alleged that his son, Sahil, was invited to Fazilka resident Simran Setia’s birthday party, organised on June 14, 2012, at Ice Blue Restaurant, where drugs, liquor and other narcotic substances were openly served till late night. He said the kith and kin of several influential people, including politicians and cops, attended the party.
