Commissioner of police Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, on Sunday said that he will make major changes in Ludhiana police. To begin with, he will change the jurisdiction of all police stations for the convenience of people.
The arrangement of police stations will not be according to constituencies as he wanted to abolish ‘halka incharge’ system. ‘Halka incharge’ is political term and parties have deputed their leaders as in-charges of particular constituencies.
The SAD-BJP government had ‘demarcated’ police stations and arranged them according to constituencies in their first term.
The police chief also said that seven of the police stations, including Division 5, PAU, Focal Point, Jamalpur, Moti Nagar, Basti Jodhewal and Sadar are under jurisdiction of other police stations and far from their respective areas.
“I have asked deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Dhruman Nimbale to make a report about it. By the first week of April, the police will change jurisdiction of police stations,” said the commissioner of police.
“Changing jurisdiction for convenience of locals will be first priority followed by crime prevention. The degradation of some of police stations into police post is also possible in the process,” he added.

NO TOW AWAY FOR A MONTH
He added that traffic challans would not be a priority of the police for March and April. The police will not tow-away any vehicle from roads. But he expects people to cooperate and park their vehicles sensitively. He has planned to make city horn-free zone in May.
