The staff working at the minor operating theatre (OT) in the emergency ward of the Shaheed Babu Labh Singh Civil Hospital is facing inconvenience carrying out work due to lack of proper lighting facilities.
The emergency ward receives around 40 to 50 cases daily, wherein minor medical intervention is required.
An employee in the ward said earlier only tube lights were installed in the facility and it was really it difficult for them to carry out their work.
“At times, patients need first aid where we have to look at the injury minutely and in absence of proper lights it gets difficult for us to do work,” he added.
“We had forwarded a written complaint to the medical superintendent and a new compact florescent light unit was installed for better lighting. However, it has failed to solve our purpose as the unit has been installed overhead and it becomes difficult for us while carrying out our work,” he said.
Recently, a patient who injured his forehead in an accident had to undergo stitching under mobile lights as the florescent lights installed in the minor OT failed to illuminate the area sufficiently for carrying out the task.

{{/usCountry}}Medical superintendent Kelash Kapoor said, “It is a minor OT and only first aid is given there. Earlier, I received complaint from the staff working there and installed a new unit to fix the problem. The room is sufficiently illuminated for the work being carried out.”
