The police later identified the accused as Kulwinder Singh of Jagraon and Karanjit Singh of Faridkot, and their five unidentified accomplices. All accused have been booked for drug peddling.

Inspector Harbhajan Singh, station house officer (SHO), Dakha police station, said the police raided an isolated plot near power grid in Issewal village following a tip-off and found seven persons unloading sacks from a mini-truck.

As the police struck, the accused fled the spot, leaving behind 11 quintals poppy husk, besides a mini-truck and a Toyota Innova car. The poppy husk was stuffed in 286 sacks.

Superintendent of police (SP) Mandeep Singh said the accused brought the poppy husk in a truck by hiding it under around 200 rolls of yarn.
