Chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal, Congress leaders Manpreet Singh Badal and Amrinder Singh Raja Warring were among 23 candidates who filed their papers on Thursday, the second day of nominations for the February 4 assembly polls.

Badal filed his papers as Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate from Lambi and her daughter-in-law Harsimrant Kaur Badal as her covering candidate. From Jalalabad, deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal filed nomination as SAD candidate. Harsimrat, his wife, is a covering candidate in this constituency as well.
Manpreet Badal filed his candidature from Bathinda Urban constituency while Warring submitted his papers for Giddarbaha seat.

Of the 23 candidates, ten belong to SAD, five to BSP, three to Congress, 2 to CPI (ML) Liberation, one each to CPI and Loktantar Party and one was Independent.
