Controversial godwoman Radhe Maa has found a supporter in Union minister of state for social justice and empowerment Vijay Sampla, who on Monday claimed that all allegations against her are baseless.
“Yes, I respect Radhe Maa and her style of preaching. Is it a sin? She is not controversial at all and all stories about her have been cooked by the media. There is no authenticity in the allegations against her,” said Sampla, when contacted by HT after the Hoshiarpur MP’s pictures with the godwoman went viral on the social media.
Radhe Maa, alias Sukhwinder Kaur, who hails from Gurdaspur, was married in Mukerian of Hoshiarpur district in the late eighties.
On July 17 this year, Sampla had organised a ‘chowki’ (religious gathering) of the controversial godwoman at his official residence in New Delhi, wherein many industrialists from Punjab and prominent leadership of the BJP in Delhi also attended the function.
“Yes I organised a function at my official residence and I respect her since she has special divine powers. Moreover, she belongs to my constituency and is a voter of my area. How can I ignore her presence in Delhi?” said Sampla.
In the pictures, Sampla along with his wife and other members, is seen worshipping Radhe Maa, who on Monday was summoned by the Mumbai police for questioning in a case relating to dowry harassment.
Defending organising of the ‘chauki’ at his official residence, Sampla said everybody has the right to worship in his own way. “The media is going overboard on the,” he said.
