Addressing the media at a blood donation and medical check-up camp on the dera campus here, the dera head said the people of Punjab and Haryana besides Sikh leaders had welcomed the earlier decision of the Akal Takht, but its latest move was influenced by radicals. He said it was unprecedented for the Akal Takht to go back on the move that was aimed at maintaining peace and brotherhood.

The dera head said his followers stuck to their decision of withdrawing all cases registered against Sikhs following the dera-Sikh clashes.

He said he failed to understand why the Takht rolled back its decision without assigning any reason, as he had sent them a video CD, carrying the apology, along with the letter prepared by the Takht that he had only signed.

He said though the Takht had withdrawn its decision, he had great respect for Sikhism.

The Akal Takht on Friday had withdrawn its earlier order pardoning the dera head in a 2007 blasphemy case.
