The downpour continued for at least two hours since early morning, due to which temperature witnessed a decline.

Almost all streets and roads and low-lying areas of the city were filled with rainwater.

Traffic in most areas of Damoria Pul, Kapurthala road and Nakodar road was disrupted due to accumulation of rainwater. Drivers of four-wheelers and two-wheelers had a tough time driving their vehicles through waterlogged Kapurthala road that was inundated.

Agricultural experts termed rains beneficial for standing paddy crop, pointing out that the rain would definitely help curtail expenses on use of diesel pumps for drawing water for irrigation.
