Senior Congress MLA Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa on Friday demanded strict party action against party colleague and former MP Jagmeet Brar for the latter’s remarks against Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Capt Amarinder Singh.

Brar had criticised the PPCC president for the party’s decision to opt out of the Khadoor Sahib assembly byelection.

“It is unfortunate that a senior leader like Brar has broken party discipline and criticised the party leadership,” Randhawa said in a statement here, adding that Brar’s outburst could be the result of his losing one election after another.

“He (Brar) is frustrated as he has lost his popularity. It’s because of his self-centric approach as Brar always portrayed himself as bigger than the party,” said Randhawa, the Dera Baba Nanak MLA and Gurdaspur District Congress Committee president.

“Brar cannot question others as he himself is responsible for the Goa poll defeat (in 2012). There are reports that he sold party tickets in Goa,” Randhawa said, demanding action against Brar.
