Robbed of Rs 4.5 lakh in Moga, says labourer, police have their doubts

Four unidentified carborne youths in covered faces robbed a labourer of Rs 4.5 lakh before opening three gun fires at him at Alamvala road in Baghapurana on Monday.

The incident took place when the complainant Harpreet Singh, a resident of Demru village at Smalsar town in Baghapurana was going to get the currency converted into Euros on his motorcycle.

“When, I reached at Alamvala road, four men in covered faces started chasing me in their Swift car and opened fires on me but I fell from the bike and got miraculously saved,” Harpreet said.

He said then miscreants exited their car and hit him with a sharp-edged weapons and took away the cash bag from him.

However, police said that eye witnesses claimed that they did not see any Swift car and moreover, Harpreet was habitual of drugs and has tried to misled cops earlier also.

The victim is undergoing treatment at a civil hospital in Baghapurana.

Gurmel Singh, station house officer (SHO) Baghapurana cum investigation officer said that the police were investigating the case from various angles.
