Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is all set to nominate former MP Navjot Singh Sidhu to the Rajya Sabha, the cricketer-turned-politician’s wife doesn’t seem to be too happy with the move.
Chief parliamentary secretary and Amritsar (East) MLA Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu feels the RS nomination will keep her husband away from Punjab’s political arena.
“It’s good if the party has decided to do something for Sidhu and he will definitely remain committed to all duties assigned by the party. But from inside, I’m not happy. Sidhu always wanted to work for Punjab and I feel this nomination will keep him away from Punjab,” Dr Sidhu told HT.
“Be it any role. Sidhu has never demanded anything from the party. He always wanted to work for the party and talks of his going to the Aam Aadmi Party or the Congress always left him in pain,” she added.
On a specific query, the CPS made it clear that Sidhu’s ‘rehabilitation’ will have no effect on her stand and she will not fight the upcoming assembly polls under the SAD-BJP alliance.
“I feel that party took him (Sidhu) out of Punjab because it has already decided that the alliance with the BJP will stay,” she added.

{{/usCountry}}“I have already announced that I will not contest polls in alliance with Akali Dal. But I will definitely contest in 2017. I am working hard in my constituency. I have kept my options open and will reveal my cards when appropriate time comes,” said CPS Sidhu.
The Amritsar legislator has been raising voice against the Akali Dal and attacked the Badals for ignoring her constituency.
Recently, she had even resigned from the party on Facebook but did a U-turn later.
