A press note issued by the DPRO on Monday said that Rs 50 per acre is to be deposited with the village lambardar. The money thus realised will be utilised for the upkeep of the canal system.

The farmers of district Sangrur, Bathinda, Mansa, Ludhiana and Barnala depend on canal water to meet their daily requirements.
