The deceased, Pawan Kumar, left a suicide note in which he stated that he committed suicide due to illicit relations of his wife with a man of the area.

Taking note of the suicide not and statement of Kumar's father, the Division Number 6 police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against Kumar's wife Seema and her alleged paramour Minka.
Sub-inspector Rajwant Singh, incharge at Janakpuri police post, said Kumar married Seema around 14 years ago, and they had a 12-year-old daughter and nine-year-old old son.

He said Kumar suspected his wife of having illicit relations with Minka, following which their relations turned sour. Around three years ago, their relatives had intervened and settled their dispute, but Kumar continued to suspect that his wife was still meeting her paramour.

In his complaint to police, Kumar's father Hans Raj said he went to a local gurdwara to pay obeisance on Sunday. Meanwhile, Kumar went home from his shop, bolted the door from inside, before hanging himself from the ceiling fan.
