This 88-year-old Gurgaon resident has never missed voting since Independence

A day before the Lok Sabha elections in the state, Dropti Nagpal called her friends and relatives reminding them to cast their vote. Nagpal, a resident of Sector 14, is 88 years old and has voted in every election since Independence.

“I have seen several general elections and I know that even one vote can make a difference. Women safety and civic amenities are the issues which need urgent attention. Infrastructure of the country also needs development,” she said.

She added that it is about time that the youth takes responsibility to vote for the right candidate.

“The children are enthusiastic about voting but it is equally important to vote for a candidate who will take our country forward. Discussions related to democracy and voting should be encouraged by parents in their households,” added Nagpal.

Nagpal was accompanied to the polling booth by her son and daughter-in-law who were in awe of her spirit.
“Since I was a kid I have seen my mother religiously going out and voting. She has always ensured that all our family members exercise this right to vote without fail. She is an inspiration to all of us. Because of her, even I haven’t missed a single general or assembly election,” said 58-year-old Sanjeev Nagpal, Dropti’s son.
