Tributes paid to martyrs of Hot Springs ambush

A function was organised at Police Lines here on Monday to pay homage to the policemen killed in an ambush encounter with Chinese at Hot Sprints (Ladakh) on October 21, 1959.

A function was organised at Police Lines here on Monday to pay homage to the policemen killed in an ambush encounter with Chinese at Hot Springs (Ladakh) on October 21, 1959.

Fatehgarh Sahib deputy commissioner Arun Sekhri presided over the function, where senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gurmeet Singh Chauhan paid tributes to the police martyrs.

While addressing the gathering, the DC and the SSP urged the people not to forget sacrifices made by the martyrs, who laid down their lives to maintain the law and order situation in the state.

They said thousands of policemen sacrificed their lives in a fight against terrorism and to restore peaceful environment.

They appealed to the police officials to perform their duty with full dedication and directed them to ensure that justice should be provided to the public.

Later the DC and the SSP honoured martyrs' families while assuring all necessary help to overcome problems being faced by them. On the occasion, the families of 16 martyrs were honoured.
