An 11-year-old body died on Sunday after a bullet hit him during the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) shooting practice on Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) firing range on Saturday.
The boy, Phatphat Saish, was found with a bullet injury in his head. He was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Bokaro DC Uma Shankar Singh has ordered an inquiry into the incident, which is being conducted by Chas SDO.
Bokaro SP Jitendra Singh said. “The security drills should have been followed and the persons present at the spot are accountable for the mishap.”
DSP Sahdeo Sao said that case would be registered against three CISF officers, including deputy commandant Mahabir Singh under the relevant
sections of the IPC in this
connection.
Meanwhile, the Chas SDO, who is conducting the inquiry, said that the CISF unit did not observe the practice protocol.
The place where the boy was found should have been scanned for safety.
“How the body got hit is a matter of investigation,” he said.
“The CISF unit has many questions to answer in the case,” the SDO said.
When contacted, a CISF officer, however, said that the boy might have been hiding in the forest area located near the range. The bullet could have ricocheted from a rock and hit him.

He said all the possible help would be given to the victim’s family on the humanitarian ground.
