Actor Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa, despite mixed reviews, has set the cash registers on fire. With an opening day gross of Rs 49 crore worldwide, the film continued its successful run over the weekend and first Monday, taking the overall gross to over Rs 100 crore. NTR is thrilled with the response and he thanked audiences for lapping up the film at a success meet on Monday in Hyderabad.
In the US, the film has made over $1.3 million (approximately Rs 9.08 crore) so far. In the film, NTR plays a triple role, which has garnered appreciation, especially his negative-shaded character, Jai. He also said the film satisfied him as an actor and that he wasn’t really bothered with the mixed response from the critics.
Directed by Bobby, who has teamed up with NTR for the first time, the film also stars Nivetha Thomas and Raashi Khanna. NTR was seen wearing prosthetic make-up for the role of Jai, a modern-day Raavan, and he speaks with a stutter. The film marked the Telugu debut of Bollywood actor Ronit Roy, who played one of the antagonists. Produced by Kalyanram, the film has music by Devi Sri Prasad.
