The makers of superstar Rajinikanth’s 2.0, have clarified that the highly anticipated sci-fi action film will release as planned on January 25, 2018. Last week, rumours claimed the film was pushed to April next year, in order to accommodate Akshay Kumar’s Padman.
Padman will hit the screens on January 26. Akshay also features in a pivotal role in 2.0. However, the rumours have been quashed by our sources at Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0 - a film made at an estimated budget of Rs 400 crore.
Directed by Shankar, the film marks Akshay’s debut in Tamil films. Akshay plays a scientist, who turns into a bird-man after an experiment goes awry. Akshay’s first look from the film garnered much appreciation.
Talking about his role, at a press meet in Dubai last week, Akshay had said that it’d take him five hours to get ready to play his character. “It’d take me three and half hours to put on the makeup and another hour and a half to take it off.” In order to play his role, he said he didn’t have to rehearse much because all he was required to do was to blindly follow Shankar’s instructions.
The film’s audio was released last week and the album has already been streamed over 2 million times across music streaming portals. The makers have planned to release the trailer of the film on December 12, to commemorate with the birthday of Rajinikanth. The film will mark the return of Rajinikanth as Dr Vaseegaran and Chitti. It has music by AR Rahman, whose two songs for the film has been extremely well received.
