Rajinikanth’s Kabali gets tax exemption

The Tamil Nadu Government has awarded a 30 per cent tax exemption to Kabali, as the film received a U certificate from the censor board.

First, some companies in Chennai and Bengaluru declared a holiday for their employees on July 22, the day Rajinikanth’s Kabali releases. Now, the movie has been awarded a tax exemption by the government of Tamil Nadu.

Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Kabali, will release in around 5,000 screens on July 22.

Since Kabali bagged a U certificate from the censor board, it is eligible for a 30 per cent tax exemption. Theatre owners and distributors in different parts of Tamil Nadu have to pay a certain percentage (the amount varies from place to place) of the ticket price to the government of Tamil Nadu. In fact, those in Chennai have to deposit 30 per cent of the ticket. This exemption is expected to contribute to the film’s success at the box office.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, the Tamil movie’s advance ticket booking has met with a fantastic response. The movie is set to hit more than 5,000 screens worldwide in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

Rajinikanth will share screen space with three women in the film. Radhika Apte plays his wife, Dhansika will be seen in the role of his daughter, and Rithvika, apparently, plays a don in the film.
