A new Tamil/Telugu trailer of Mahesh Babu starrer Spyder is out. Released early on September 15, the trailer’s look and feel matches the genre. AR Murugadoss’ film is a spy thriller and we are shown all that would typically go in an Indian spy thriller -- a glass and steel Intelligence Bureau office, a super fit and sharp cop, a bubbly love interest, some touching family moments prominently featuring a worried mother, a glimpse of an antagonist who is more psychotic than overtly villainous, some song and dance sequences, stylishly choreographed punches and fights and a high thrill quotient.
The Spyder trailer appears to have got the audience interested too. While the Telugu version has already got close to 6.5 lakh hits, the Tamil version has got 2.5 lakh views on YouTube. The trailer, which was to be unveiled on Friday at a function in Hyderabad, has to be pre-poned after a leaked version of the trailer appeared online on Thursday.
The makers tweeted to clear the air. “Rough cut version of the Trailer got leaked. The Official version of #SpyderTrailer will be out in One hour @ 12 AM 15th Sept,” read the tweet of their Twitter handle.

{{/usCountry}}The nearly 1.5-minute bilingual trailer gives us a lot more understanding into the dangerous world of Spyder. Mahesh Babu looks restrained in his acting, which is a welcome relief. Rakul Preet has little to do though there will be some moments given to romance as is the case with all Murugadoss films. However, this trailer gives us a lot of more of the villain -- SJ Suryah is menacing, out to wreak havoc on an unsuspecting target not just physically (we are shown how an entire hospital is targetted and later a massive rock is let loose on the traffic at a busy road), but chemically as well. Suryah’s character is seen handling a green liquid.
In this trailer, we get to know a bit more about the two principle characters -- Mahesh Babu’s Siva is a tech geek and loves his job. He is not ready to change the world but wants to help others. Hence, he finds a software which will assist his team pinpoint who is in specific need of help by highlighting cases with words like ‘help’ used on phones.
His world changes dramatically when his brain child becomes the reason for conflict.
This is Mahesh Babu’s first Tamil film and he has dubbed in the language himself. Since the trailer’s launch (both the versions were released early Friday morning) Twitter is abuzz with praise for Mahesh’s flawless Tamil rendition. The actor is said to be very comfortable in the language but it never hurts to get it better.
Spyder releases on September 27.
