"When director Chimbudeven first narrated the story, Vijay heard it with his son Sanjay. Initially, Vijay wasn't sure if he should do the project as it had elements of fantasy and he'd never worked in this genre before," said a source.

"As soon as Chimbudeven left after narrating the script, it was Sanjay who convinced his father to accept the offer. Sanjay told Vijay that the he should do the film as it will make him proud," the source added.

Tipped to be a big budget fantasy film laced with time-travel concept, the film also features Sridevi, Shruti Haasan, Hansika Motwani and Sudeep in important roles.

Reportedly, Vijay will be seen in dual roles, one of them of a warrior. Sridevi is essaying the role of a princess, while Hansika appears as her daughter.

Devi Sri Prasad has composed the tunes for the film, which is said to be dubbed in Hindi for a wider release.
