Vijay’s Mersal satellite rights bagged for whopping Rs 30 crore?

Tamil film Mersal, which will see the coming together of Vijay and director Atlee after a long gap, has bagged a Rs 30 crore deal with Zee Network for satellite rights.

Among the most-anticipated Tamil releases of the year, Vijay’s Mersal is one of the top contenders. Ever since the film was launched, it has been surrounded by terrific buzz, thanks to the successful reunion of Vijay and director Atlee after the blockbuster success of their film, Theri, in 2016. With the film gearing up for grand release this Diwali, reports have surfaced that the film’s satellite rights has been bagged for a whopping Rs 30 crore by Zee Network, which had earlier this year snapped the rights of Rajinikanth’s 2.o for Rs 100 crore.

Mersal will see Vijay appear in three different roles -- as a panchayat head, as a magician and as a doctor.

In Mersal, Vijay plays triple roles. According to reliable sources, he will be seen as a panchayat head, a doctor and a magician. The actor’s comic timing will be brought forth on screen through the magician’s role. His portions are intended to evoke laughter and lighten up the mood. In the film’s first poster, released recently, Vijay can be seen as the panchayat head, sporting a twirled mustache, and this role will be seen in the period portion. There is Jallikattu reference in this poster and it could be perceived that the film may address the recent Jallikattu row in Tamil Nadu. Vijay is seen as a magician in the second poster and although it wasn’t as well received as the first, fans still celebrated both the posters.
