A survey has revealed some of the worst ever Valentine’s Day gifts received by women — from a tin of baked beans to a live tarantula. The poll by Beaverbrooks the Jewellers found that 56% of women have been left disappointed on the holiday, the Mirror reported.
One female admitted to getting a plastic sheep from her partner, while another said she was left disappointed by an ironing board cover. A third woman described how she was given some bathroom scales and a fourth said, she received a single tea bag from her partner. One woman even received a sausage roll.
More than one in five women said they have previously resorted to organising their own Valentine’s date, or even buying their own card or present. This was because they knew their loved one wouldn’t put in the effort, the survey found. 23% of men admitted that they have completely forgotten to get their partner a card or gift in the past, while 46% of men revealed they often leave the Valentine’s Day card and present-buying until the last minute.

But judging by some of the stories, it’s no wonder women are taking matters into their own hands when it comes to Valentine’s Day planning — from picking the perfect gift to booking their own ‘surprise’ celebrations.”
