Cosmetic surgeons in the city confirm that there’s been a rise in the number of people queuing up at clinics to get prettier post break up.

Sunaina’s break-up with Aryan left her with a broken heart and a bruised nose to nurse. And the bandaged snoot wasn’t the outcome of a pre-break up duel. Sunaina headed to a cosmetic surgeons’ clinic for a nose job just a week after the break up. This, she says was to make herself feel better.

Forget makeovers and spa session. The latest way to show to your ex that he/she will regret dumping you is to get a surgical makeover. In a startling trend, young people are opting for what's known as 'revenge surgery' to show their ex's what they have deprived themselves of.

Cosmetic surgeons in the city confirm that there’s been a rise in the number of people queuing up at clinics to get prettier post break up. Dr Navin Taneja of National Skin Centre, says, “Most of the young people come for a lip job whereas older women want to get wrinkles removed from their hands. I have also done breast augmentation in one case. Last year, I have handled ten such cases.”

Experts say that a break-up can adversely affect a person’s self-esteem. “Even good looking people start thinking they are not good to look at,” says psychiatrist Dr Avdesh Sharma.

Revenge surgeries are a means to show one’s ex that ‘Look, I’m gorgeous and you’re one unlucky person who couldn't keep me’.
“It is a sort of mental revenge. It’s a twisted logic because you are tempering with nature to prove a point to someone,” adds Dr Sharma.
