US Open champion, Kim Clijsters easily won her first round match at the Sydney International, beating Alexandra Dulgheru of Romania 6-1, 6-2 at the Sydney Olympic Park.
The third seeded Clijsters needed 62 minutes on Sunday to advance to the second round at Sydney Olympic Park, where she will face either Russian Nadia Petrova or a qualifier for a place in the quarterfinals.

In another match, two time Grand Slam champion, Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia beat Australian wild card Jelena Dokic 6-2, 6-2.
