Anfield paid a heartfelt gesture, displaying banners declaring the stadium will “always be his home” and joining Salah in an emotional homage.

Hugo Ekitike made an immediate impact on his league debut, opening the scoring in the 37th minute, with Cody Gakpo doubling the lead shortly after the interval. Bournemouth, however, refused to fold.
