The Portugal and Hungary match from the group stage of Euro 2016 has been one of the most memorable from the tournament. However, what some of us watched was a mix between the 3-3 thriller and a ‘No Signal’ warning from their DTH (direct to home service).
Damn weather.
If only there was a way to pause the clouds. Anyway.
Until a few years ago, and many of us can vouch for this, the pre-game routine before a big game went something like this:
Friend X calls and asks, “Dude, is your TV getting a signal?” The response would be a dismayed “no” and we would wonder why we were the unluckiest souls on the planet. We had food and a roof over our heads, but miss a match? Why us?

{{/usCountry}}Then the search would begin for a website that was live streaming that match. That in itself was an ordeal. Not only were they riddled with malware, plenty of pop-ups (the dirty kinds too), but the quality of the stream itself was like when you pull out that old TV at your grandparents’ house and wonder why it was so fat or why it didn’t have colour.
And once a link was found that was watchable, the next objective was to share it with friends, because they would not stop calling.
By the end, it felt something like this.
All this for a match.
Thankfully, the wonderful thing that is the internet now allows us to stream everything online and not have our eyes water.
Most broadcasters now have websites where one can stream the event completely free of cost. From the ongoing Wimbledon Championships and the Euros, to Formula One, Kabaddi and Badminton, all of it is just there.
