Nayanika ends Snehadevi's run

Nayanika Reddy caused Thursday's biggest upset when she took out the girls' U-16 top seed Snehadevi Reddy in the quarterfinals of the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship.

After losing the first set, Nayanika fought hard before triumphing 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 over the junior Fed Cup star, who has strong ground-strokes.

After reaching the U-16 semifinal, Nayanika turned her attention to the U-14 event, where she also made the last-four stage. She trounced Himani Mor 6-4, 6-2.

There was a minor upset in the event with the third seed bowing out. Akshara Iska ended Bhjiyani Devanshi's campaign with a 6-4, 6-4 victory to reach the semifinals.

In the boys' U-16 event, second seed Fatehdeep Singh emerged victorious with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gagan Sharma in the quarters.
